Chapter 1
Teaching Young Adolescents
Recognizing and Understanding the Challenge

From Chapter 1, I gained knowledge about the many people that come together to provide our country's youth with a quality education. These people would include committed teachers, parents and guardians, administration, bus drivers, cooks, grounds crew, security staff, custodial staff, support personnel, and members of the community. The dedication and commitment of these involved adults allow children to grow and learn to the best of their ability. Throughout this chapter I also learned a overview of how today's schools are organized, characteristics of young adolescents and adults who work in schools, and some trends and issues that continue to hurt our nation's education. In regards to using this information in my future classroom, I will make sure to get my students involved with the community and appreciate all the people that work to help them achieve a great education.
